HISTORY


The history of the Golden Temple starts from 1574, when Akbar Mughal Emperor gifted the land to the daughter of the third Guru Amar Das, when he married Jeth, who later became the fourth Guru, Guru Ram Das. In 1577, Guru Ram Das started making a fresh water tank.In 1588, the fifth Guru's son, Guru Ram Das and Guru Arjan, inspected the foundation of the temple. He completed the construction work after five years and composed the Adi Granth. In 1606, Guru Hargobind laid the foundation of Akal Takht, which is the Throne of Spiritual Power. In 1699 Bhai Mani Singh was appointed the head of the temple.



















After the attack of the Afghan king in 1757, Maharaja Ranjit Singh sponsored the root of the marble, plating gold in 1830. However, in 1984, the Golden Temple was attacked by Sikh separatists, and Indian Army soldiers fought in the temple premises and killed 500 Indian soldiers here, killing 100 Indian soldiers, which lasted several hours.

The temple is a two-story marble structure and can be reached by the bridge of the Guru. The upper floor gold is plated and crowned with a dome and the lower floor is made of white marble and the walls are decorated with decoration. Architecture is a big mix of Hindu and Muslim styles.
